Raised Garden Bed
This is a raised bed, 30” high with a 3 x 7 ft. interior space with a bench rail on top. It is treated lumber with no paint or sealant added. It is notched together and can be separated to make two or more garden beds. There is approximately 53 cubic ft. of planting area with at least 30" of root space. Taken together it amounts to $6 per cubic ft. of growing space. It does not need to be moved for hurricane or floods. It could act as an anchor for a shade covering when filled with soil. It could be a great play area for children.
Compare to the "best sellers" at the box stores which give 8 cubic feet of growing space with less than 12” of root space. 30” high. It will take approximately 5 bags of garden soil to fill the growing space, with the cost of each approximately $9-10, so about $50 plus the cost of the bed at approximately $140, for a total cost of $200. This is $25 per cubic foot of planting area.
